JOIN US FOR THE NURTURING HOPE GALA

LifeSource will host its annual fundraising banquet on Thursday, May 2nd at 6:30 pm at the Fayetteville Town Center in Fayetteville. The VIP Reception will begin at 6:00 pm for those invited to attend this pre-gala reception to meet the keynote speaker and emcees. The main event starts at 6:30 pm for general public.

The evening will consists of a dinner, entertainment, and keynote speaker Jimmy Wayne. The evenings emcees will be Time & Jeff of Power 105.7.

Jimmy Wayne is an American country music singer, songwriter, an author. By 14 years of age, Jimmy had been in and out of fostercare and attended 12 difference schools in 2 years. With his mother in prison, he found himself in juvenile detention of running away from a group home. At 16, he was living on the streets, until….an elderly couple began to “Nurture Hope” into his life.

The ticket price is for the cost of the meal. LifeSource does not make anything from this price. During the evening there will be an opportunity to financially support LifeSource. 2012 Canned Food Campout Highlights and Wrap-up

LifeSource, a local non-profit, whose mission is “Strengthening Families, Building Communities” by helping families in need throughout Northwest Arkansas is the recipient of seven grants. The funds received from these grants will all be used to facilitate their Kid’s Life Summer Day Camp program. This program provides up to 90 disadvantaged low-income children with a fun, safe, and educational place to come during eight weeks of the summer school break.

I thank God for your organization that helps me take care of my kids, invigorating their minds and bodies with fun lessons and activities, and providing nutritional meals, otherwise they would be home alone. Summer is a fun time for most children, but for those whose families live at or below poverty it is filled with some tough decisions. Many of the families we serve through the Kid’s Life Summer Day Camp would be faced with the decision of leaving their children home alone while th

ey work or struggle to pay bills because of paying a sitter. This is one reason why LifeSource reaches out to help low-income families by providing a safe, fun and educational place during the summer for the children.

Beginning June 4^th we will be impacting the lives of disadvantaged children from 2^nd-11 th grades. Elementary and Middle School children have elements that consist of: Reading, Math, Computers, and Fitness/Nutrition in the mornings. The afternoons are filled with: crafts, music, painting, and activities. The Leadership groups (tth-12th) focus is on servant leadership, building personal character qualities, and more.

This year LifeSource is facing some challenges with increased camp costs. The State of Arkansas has cut reimbursement amounts for helping feed each child. The overall cost of food itself has increased. The cost of gas has increased, thereby increasing cost for transportation to summer activities.  Lastly, some activities we take the campers to, i.e. swimming at the Jones Center have increased their fees. Combined, these will have a huge impact on the overall camp budget.

Will you join us in our commitment in ensuring that these children have the absolute best Summer Camp experience? Your generosity has brought us such a great distance since 2001 – will you continue to help us with this need by sponsoring a child for a week or the entire camp?
